Our credentials. I’ll have several by the time I get to Santiago. You can get new blank credentials at tourist offices and some albergues (hotels).

A shorter walk! What a pleasure to have a 7km day. This is the way to go. Our Hostal is way on the top of a hill (of course) and a mixture of ancient and modern. My right knee is still a tad sore on the hills and I’m planning a day off from walking tomorrow.

I love meeting up with other pilgrims on the road now. We’re all part of this big club with shared experiences on the road. “What did you think of that cafe in Azqueta?”

“I saw you eating that huge cheese sandwich!”

“Did you like that hill?”

“It’s so hard to find a meal sometimes!”

“We can’t wait until 9pm to eat! We’re too tired!”

“Did you get that stamp at the table coming into town?”

These amazing caves were once used to protect the town.
